Porcelain veneers are a versatile and incredibly effective option for cosmetically flawed teeth. Placed over the front of teeth, dental veneers are able to correct:
- Small gaps and spaces
- Crooked tooth presentation
- Uneven tooth sizes
- Irregular tooth shapes
- Chipped or cracked tooth enamel
- Severe tooth discoloration
Some types of discoloration, such as those related to nicotine, certain antibiotics, and excess fluoride during childhood, do not always respond to topical teeth whiteners. In fact, whitening surrounding enamel can actually make these stains appear much worse. Because they are placed over teeth, dental veneers can address severe staining, helping to restore a bright and beautiful appearance to your smile.
How Long Does it Take to Get Dental Veneers?
The porcelain veneers process requires a few visits to our office, spaced over a period of a few weeks. During one of these visits, we will prepare your teeth for veneers by removing a small amount of tooth enamel in order to take an accurate impression of your smile to send to our dental lab partners for veneer creation. We will fit you with temporary veneers during this visit to help guard against sensitivity. These will not look or feel as natural as your customized veneers, but they will only need to be worn for a week or two.
Once your veneers have been crafted to our specifications, you will return to our office to have them placed. During this visit, we will check to ensure your veneers fit comfortably into your mouth and make any adjustments needed. It may take a few days and up to a week to adjust to your new veneers, but as you acclimate to your new bite, speech and eating patterns will normalize.
Choosing to get veneers earlier in the year, during springtime months, for example, allows for complete smile perfection in time for summer when graduations, reunions, and weddings tend to become more common. If you are concerned about the quality of your smile, we look forward to meeting with you, listening to your desires, and helping you reach all of your goals.
